Description
Trials are daily challenges that test different aspects of your abilities. Completing trials rewards Trial Badges, a currency used to purchase unique cosmetics, experience potions, and exclusive items.
Location
Floor 0 (Threshold), north-east area on the second floor. Also accessible on Floor 5 (Haven) in the Mayor's Castle. Use the Trial Clock to access the trial selection window.
How Trials Work
Interact with the Trial Clock to open the trial selection window. Choose your difficulty based on the floors you have reached in the tower. Higher difficulties unlock as you progress and reward more Trial Badges. Your trial type is picked at random - every type comes up once before any repeats.
Leaving a Trial
Logging out or dying while inside a trial counts as a fail, the same as running out of time. There is no pausing a run - finish it or accept the fail before you have to go.
No Reward From Kills
Monsters killed inside a trial drop nothing. The badges you get on completion are the only reward for the run.
Trial Types
Damage Trial
Kill monsters under a time limit. Ranked on how much of the time limit you use - the faster you clear it, the higher the rank.
Boss Trial
Defeat a boss with random modifiers under a time limit. Ranked the same way as the Damage trial - a faster kill scores higher.
Reflex Trial
Dodge incoming spells for a set duration. Ranked on how few hits you take - you may survive a few and still clear it, but a clean run scores higher.
Puzzle Trial
Remember and repeat the correct order of lever presses. Ranked on how much of the time limit you use, like the Damage and Boss trials.
Safe Path Trial
A path lights up tile by tile while you are held in place. Once it finishes lighting up, walk it from memory. Stepping off the lit path counts as a hit, and is ranked on how few of those you take, like the Reflex trial.
Rewards
Trial Badges earned scale with difficulty - harder trials reward more badges. Your payout is also graded by performance: every completion is ranked S, A, B or C.
Performance Ranks
Rank A is the baseline reward. S pays more (1.25x), while B and C pay less (0.65x and 0.35x).
Spend Trial Badges with Ancient Merchant Chronos, by the Trial Clock, on experience potions, mystical hourglasses, cosmetics, Chrono's Heirloom, cards and spell tomes. A mystical hourglass makes your next finished Abyss run count as a faster clear for its rank.
Soulbound
Trial Badges are soulbound to the character that earned them. They cannot be dropped, traded or handed to another character - only spent.
Trial Charges
Each run costs one charge. You get a set number of daily charges that refill every day at the daily reset - unused ones do not carry over. The Trial Charge item grants a bonus charge instead: bonus charges never expire and are only spent once your daily charges for the day are gone, so saving them up lets you clear more trials on days you have time to play.
Active Streak
Clearing trials on consecutive days without failing builds an active-play streak. Each clean clear adds +5% badges, stacking up to +50%. The streak survives as long as you keep clearing - but it resets if you fail a trial or skip a whole day, so log in and clear daily to keep it climbing.
Strategy Tips
Daily Charges
Clear your daily charges consistently for steady badge income, and save Trial Charge items for days you want to clear more than usual.
Difficulty
Choose the highest difficulty you can reliably complete for maximum rewards.
Practice
Each trial type requires different skills - practice all five to master them.
